REEF Carbonate is a concentrated (4,000mEQ / l) a mixture of bicarbonate and carbonate salts, intended for marine aquariums that restore optimal basic (carbonate hardness) and keeping it on Right level. Calcium and carbonates are essential for the proper development of corals. The deficiency of one of these ingredients causes their growth and deterioration of their growth. To prevent this, you must provide both carbonates (Reef Carbonate) and calcium (REEF Advantage Calcium and Reef Complete).
Used according to the recommendations, Reef Carbonate does not drop the level of calcium, magnesium and strontium, which are usually precipitated when the alkalidity is increasing (carbonate hardness) of water. It should be maintained between 3 - 5 MEQ / L (8 - 14DKH), should not be lower than 2MEQ / L.
Competitive products usually contain sodium bicarbonate. REEF Carbonate is a mixture of bicarbonate and carbonate salts. Thanks to its composition, it is able to maintain a PK coefficient in salt water at about 9.0 (higher than in other products). Numerous organisms living in the tank produce organic substances that reduce water reactions. The elevated PK constant allows the pH value of 8.3 - 8.4, which will not provide other products available on the market.
How to use:
Beginners: one nut (5ml) for 80 liters of water, 2 times a week. Before pouring into the aquarium, it is recommended to dilute the preparation in a glass of sweet water. Every 2 weeks control the carbonate hardness and depending on the result modify the dosage.
Advanced: Carbonate monitoring. Use "Reef Carbonate" in accordance with the above-mentioned recommendations to achieve the alkalinity at 4 - 5MEQ / L. A single portion of the preparation (5ml) increases carbonate hardness by about 0.25meq / l. The volume of the added preparation and the frequency of use can be modified depending on the needs, but 1MEQ / L should not be exceeded. Later, use depending on the need to maintain carbonate hardness at the recommended level.
Expert: After determining the rate of decline in the alkalinity (Alkalinity Consumption Rate), prepare a permanent drip system dosing preparation. Preparation is best administered in a place where there is a strong water current. Do not pour into sumpa or filtering systems. In order to measure the general hardness, use the "Marine Ph & Alkalinity" test. To determine the carbonate hardness, use the "Reef Status: Magnesium, Carbonate & Borate" test.
Caution! Do not overdose the preparation! Too high hardness. Carbonate can accelerate the precipitation of calcium, magnesium and strontium. Do not mix "Reef Carbonate" with no preparation containing calcium, magnesium or strontium.
It is best to use products containing calcium and bicarbonates alternately (one day one, next - second) or after the first time waiting for at least 30 minutes.
