How does it work?

The calcium reactor is essentially filled with aragonite, which is a natural form of carbonate mineral or commonly known as crushed hard corals. Aquarium water circulates through this chamber with carbon dioxide (CO2). CO2 lowers the pH in the chamber to the acid level, which results in dissolution of carbonate minerals in aquarium water. In addition to dissolving carbonate minerals, this process also dissolves almost all minerals and trace elements whose coral needed to grow.
