All limestone organisms, especially corals need lime and carbohydrates to growth and development. The growth of corals depends to a large extent from Zooktell (ALG) living in symbiosis with coral. These algae provide carbohydrates resulting from metabolic processes in the cell algae. During the photosynthesis algae consume carbon dioxide from water, it allows corals to precip the calcium carbonate and build a limestone skeleton from it. Only if the lime and carbon dioxide are available simultaneously, this system of symbiosis between algae and coral functions. Tropic Marin® Bio-Calcium is an ideal source and calcium carbonate and carbon dioxide.

Many lime supplementation products contain undesirable substances in their composition, or as Kalkwasser affects the pH of water. Bio-Calcium contains all 70 microelements, but does not contain any non-natural compounds for sea water. Bio-Calcium also does not raise a pH level if it is used in accordance with the instructions.

Natural sea water contains 400 - 410 ppm lime. Do not exceed the saturation with lime, raising its contents above 450 ppm, such lime shipment causes precipitation to the sludge of many microelements. It is recommended to use Tropic Marin® Calcium test to measure calcium content in water and Bio-Calcium to adjust the level of this element.
