Natural sea water contains over 70 elements. Most of them affect water parameters, but only a few play a significant role in its overall chemical stability. These elements are the basis of the reef environment and include three main elements: calcium, magnesium and bicarbonates. These three "basic elements" have the main impact on the stability of the pH, the basicity, ionic strength of seawater and many biological processes of corals (creating a skeleton, ion exchange, photosynthesis).

In contrast to the natural reef environment, where the amount of foundation elements is infinite, so the reef aquarium has limited resources that are quickly absorbed by the residents of the aquarium. Therefore, to enable a sustainable increase in corals, it is necessary to maintain a higher than natural level of foundation elements. Research conducted in the Red SEA laboratory has shown that increasing the level of foundation elements above the levels occurring in natural sea water, in a very defined ratio, stimulate the growth of corals and will result in the correct increase in the skeleton Coral.
